# At a tiny exhibition at Hide Gallery in Cube.Moscow I came across this island talisman

At a tiny exhibition at Hide Gallery in Cube.Moscow I came across this island talisman. The sculpture has a most interesting history: the gallerists found it in the studio of an artist who carves such figures from coral in some little village in the Seychelles, to protect his family and friends from dark forces and sickness. After much persuasion, Chanel Alphonse, its author, agreed to send the bust to Moscow, and thus became an artist whose works are exhibited in the very centre of the capital. You know, I am quite ready to believe that at the sight of this in every respect remarkable and most charming head, Poli, evil spirits will indeed take themselves off
