Spent in dreams of vain love,  
I do not regret you, O mysteries of nights,  
Sung by a voluptuous pipe,  
I do not regret you, faithless friends,  
Garlands of feasts and cups passed round —  
I do not regret you, young betrayers, —  
Pensive, I shun amusements.  
But where are you, moments of tenderness,  
Of young hopes, of the heart's stillness?  
Where is the former ardour and the tears of inspiration?  
Come back again, years of my spring!
