I was told some interesting details of this story. The burial was discovered by chance. As my interlocutor put it, “they barbarously melted the ice lens with boiling water, damaging it considerably, and then hauled the unmelted remainder off to Novosibirsk on a hastily summoned helicopter. After the reconstruction, paid for by Gazprom, at the Anokhin Museum, the mummy was moved to Gorno-Altaysk, into a special chamber. In 2014, during a severe flood, it, the mummy, was very nearly drowned, but the selfless museum staff all but barred the water’s way with their own bodies. The mummy is displayed according to the phases of the moon. Genetically she is rather Ket than one of the regional peoples.” The story is told on the word of archaeologists who took part in the process.
