The International Biographers Organisation has named the winner of the 2026 Plutarch Award for the best biography of 2025\. It is Gertrude Stein: An Afterlife by Francesca Wade. The jury noted her original approach to Stein's life and work and her contribution to the very understanding of the biographical genre.

The prize is the only international award for biography conferred exclusively by biographers themselves. The cash portion of the prize is 3,000 dollars. Among past winners: Robert Caro for "The Passage of Power", the fourth volume of his multi-volume biography of Lyndon Johnson; Hermione Lee for her biography of the English writer Penelope Fitzgerald; Ruth Franklin for her biography of the American writer Shirley Jackson; and A. N. Wilson, author of biographies of Hitler, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
