When I see the work of the British naturalist artist Charles Tunnicliffe (1901-1979), who spent most of his life on the island of Anglesey at peace with the world around him, drawing scenes from the lives of birds and animals, I am invariably reminded of the Soviet cartoon of 1954, "Orange Neck" (Orangevoye gorlyshko), based on the story by Vitaly Bianki about well-mannered partridges who wish one another a good day, befriend a lark, keep watch over the changes in nature around them, come to the rescue of their kin in trouble, and are given to irony and philosophising: "Children, a young partridge with an education will never come to grief!" I recommend [watching](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OG7%5FIsaTqY&ref=theparnassian.com) this masterpiece of Soyuzmultfilm in the old voice-over, in which the birds speak with the voices of great Soviet actors: Maria Babanova, Georgy Vitsin, Irina Gosheva and Valentina Telegina. The 2001 re-voicing, though it features Konkin, is not considered quite so distinguished
