# British 1916 aerial camera built as a copy of the Lewis gun for pilot training

The Thornton-Pickard Mark III H aerial camera of 1916 was built as an exact copy of the British Lewis gun of 1913 pattern. The camera was intended, among other things, for training pilots in gunnery, but pulling the trigger produced not a shot but a fresh exposure.
