“To the citizens of Russia! The Provisional Government has been deposed. The cause for which the people have fought, the immediate proposal of a democratic peace, the abolition of landlords’ ownership of the land, workers’ control over production, the creation of a Soviet government, that cause is secured. The Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies. 25 October 1917, 10 a.m.”
