Borisov is on a list of 534 performers and film industry professionals who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of the USA, the organisation that awards the Oscars each year.

The list includes recent Oscar winners and nominees, among them Kieran Culkin, Ariana Grande, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and others. Yura Borisov is recognised for his work in the films "Anora" and "Compartment No. 6".

If all those invited accept, the total membership of the Academy will exceed 11,000.

Membership of the Academy carries the right to vote for the winners of the Oscars.
