Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce as the royal couple in the drama "The Crown" are certainly splendid, but during the November 1992 fire at Windsor Castle Prince Philip was presiding over a World Wildlife Fund congress in Buenos Aires and, however much he might have wished it, could not have clasped Queen Elizabeth to his heart amid the smouldering ashes of their residence. The palace that day held Prince Andrew, who even managed to save a certain quantity of valuables, not leaving the burning halls until the last moment. The Queen visited the scene of the fire on the night the flames were put out, but alone. In short, on close inspection the series "The Crown" turns out to be almost entirely invented, save for the details of Prince Charles's infidelities with Camilla during his marriage to Diana
