The Governorate of Vatican City, the executive body of the city-state, has established certain rules governing the use of AI on Vatican territory and set up a special Commission on Artificial Intelligence.

The main provisions of the document speak of the need to respect human dignity, to ensure the security of Vatican City State, to protect the privacy and confidentiality of personal data, and to treat discrimination as unacceptable in any activity connected with AI on Vatican territory. According to the text of the document, any AI-related activity must be anthropocentric, since "the vocation of artificial intelligence is to serve humanity, to protect the autonomy and the authority of the human person in decision-making"
