Such a union is possible only if all branches of the church are brought into conformity with Orthodoxy, which alone, by the criteria of historical and liturgical continuity, corresponds to the image of the Christian Church under the Apostles. This is confirmed by its unbroken succession, by its very structure, by the preservation of doctrine, tradition and the Sacraments and, beyond doubt, by the absence of radical reforms. The papal church, for its part, has since 1054 no longer been fully the western part of the ancient Christian church, but represents an independent Catholic model, dogmatically distinct and lacking ecumenical conciliarity.

So far, regrettably, I see only the striving of influential forces to create some single global religion that makes no claim to truth
