# The Louis Philippe heating and ventilation system in the Gallery of Battles at Versailles

There is such a [photograph](http://versailles-mypics.over-blog.com/2016/09/ca-c-est-de-la-clim.html?ref=theparnassian.com) of the outlets of the very Louis-Philippe system of central heating and, accordingly, ventilation in the Gallery of Battles at Versailles. Of course, for its time such a system was the optimal solution, but then the palace was not visited by 15,000 people a day. Naturally, the fan installed by the vent looks foolish and absurd, and is of no use whatever. As for the new air ducts laid directly in the floor, they will solve part of the problems, but still: should one not have resorted to more technological, advanced solutions, ones more conducive to preserving a conservative appearance?
