# If, like me, you spent years riding the “Bukashka” along the Garden Ring and, hearing the announcement of the stop “Chekhov House-Museum”, thought: “The Chekhov museum, I really must go in”, then right now, for example, there is a curious exhibition there

Thanks to the exhibition, which has the witty title “I Have No Better Photograph”, I learned that Anton Pavlovich was very fond of being photographed. True, he was not particularly inclined to change his pose. There are dozens of pictures taken many years apart in which he sits literally in the very same position, and only the accessory changes and, at best, the colour of the tie and waistcoat. A mesmerising spectacle: several hundred almost identical photographs of Chekhov, taken by different people in different years, and the Chekhov in them is ever the same. I imagined what would happen if one printed out the gallery of pictures from any average iPhone. Yes, albums should be cleared out from time to time, if only of duplicates.

I recommend the museum for a brisk visit: there are interesting exhibits, memorial objects, manuscripts, authentic works by Levitan and by Anton Pavlovich’s brother, but on the whole it is, of course, no Melikhovo.
