**— Is the Russian art market content with Vasnetsov and Serov?**

**—** It is very bad when a culture, however rich and varied it may be, stews in its own juice. It is one single "broth", and every ingredient in it matters, matters very much.

The history of our country, and indeed its very structure, is such that it is culturally diverse. Perhaps, to some extent, it is even a salvation that there is now so much variety within. It allows other ingredients to be added to this broth, but on the whole, of course, one cannot, so to speak, feed on oneself all the time. For a while one can, but after that it brings no benefit at all.

It is not only about collections, it is about dealing with colleagues, about the indispensable travelling of objects from our collections. It means not only receiving objects, but giving them too.
