The exhibition's materials tell of the lives of the epoch's chief spiritual beacons, of the saving power of culture, and of the inner world of people who bore on their fragile shoulders the weight of an entire universe. The chronology of the exhibition is circular, and its thematic sections are devoted not only to painting but also to the art of book design, to texts and to music.
