Former Governor of Texas Sam Houston, who gave his name to the city of Houston, in a jaguar-skin waistcoat.

Captain Samuel Richardson of the 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment, Confederate Army, in trousers of jaguar skin.

But these are mild fashions compared with the habits of the Texas gunman John King Fisher, who wore a beaver hat with a golden band in the shape of a rattlesnake, a silk shirt with a bandana at the neck, and a pair of trousers made from the skin of a Bengal tiger, which he had shot while raiding a travelling circus.

Oh, these Southerners!
