The Flagellation of Christ, a painting by the Master of the Processions, sold only recently for more than 160,000 euros.

The Master of the Processions is the conventional name of an unknown French painter of the mid-seventeenth century. At various times some of this artist's pictures were attributed to other hands, the Le Nain brothers among them. In the middle of the twentieth century, however, on the strength of a number of distinctive features, a group of canvases came to be catalogued under the name of the Master of the Processions, an undeniably outstanding artist of his day who, alas, has remained anonymous. Works ascribed to him are held in the Picasso Museum in Paris, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum.
