An anthropomorphic figure with a radiating semicircle in place of a backside, from unnamed cave No. 19 in Alabama, signals insistently to the people of the 21st century, who likewise worship an idol of ample stern embodied in the figure of Kim Kardashian. Looking at this mud glyph, one might take the image for something very ancient, but it is dated, with 95% certainty, to the 700s–900s AD. That is, the Roman Empire was already no more, the first universities had appeared in Europe, Romanesque art was flourishing, and somewhere on the south-eastern posterior of North America, religious art looked like this
