On 10 June, the centenary of Gaudí's death, Pope Leo XIV consecrated the Tower of Jesus Christ, the central and tallest of the eighteen towers of the Sagrada Família. The basilica has risen to 172.5 metres and has officially become the tallest church in the world. Yet Gaudí's rule has been observed: the church remains just slightly lower than Montjuïc, the 173-metre hill of Barcelona.

The building now faces ten years of work to complete the Glory façade and the grand staircase. And there is one main question to settle, not architectural at all but a matter of property. To make way for a park in front of the church, several residential blocks will have to be demolished, and about 2,000 Barcelonans are to be evicted.
